Abstract
The article analyzes international documents in the field of international humanitarian law, particularly those dedicated to ensuring the protection of journalists during armed conflicts. The lack of clear legal criteria for non-international conflicts and incomplete guarantees of the rights of media personnel can provide grounds for manipulation or disregard for their legal protection. The author provides a definition of the concept of the "system for protecting the rights and freedoms of journalists" covering armed conflicts, the legal status during armed conflicts, and conclusions and proposals to fill gaps in international humanitarian law.
