Abstract

The evolution of the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union in the field of security reflects a gradual and coherent transformation of the national public policy framework, oriented towards integration into the European security and defence space. All strategic documents adopted by the Moldovan authorities — starting with the National Security Strategy, the National Programme for the Accession to the European Union, as well as the implementation plans of the Association Agreement — converge towards the same objective: strengthening institutional capacity, increasing resilience, and aligning national instruments with European mechanisms. This scientific endeavour aims to highlight the main regulations and actions supporting the Republic of Moldova – European Union partnership. The role of the European Union goes beyond financial and technical assistance, becoming a framework of strategic convergence for institutional modernization and the strengthening of Moldova’s resilience. Through its instruments, the European Union contributes to the professionalization of the security sector, the modernization of the regulatory framework, and the institutionalization of a security culture based on European values – democracy, the rule of law, and respect for fundamental rights.
